New SUBTEL Requirement: Since February 2026, most short-range devices will no longer be permitted to be sold based solely on old certificates; a verification and labeling system using QR codes is now mandatory
Regulatory risk: The display or sale of devices that do not have a visible QR code on their packaging or in their advertising is strictly prohibited and may result in penalties under the General Telecommunications Law.
Lack of a local representative: The regulations require that the QR code data include the address and contact information in Chile of an importer or representative. It is not permitted to list only a foreign address.

Representation in Chile: Vintel Chile S.p.A. assumes the rol of local representative required by SUBTEL, providing the legal framework and registered address in Chile necessary for regulatory compliance.

We operate under the framework of Exempt Resolution 1985, as amended by Resolution 737 (2025) and Resolution 2219 (2025) of the Undersecretariat of Telecommunications.
Legal Framework: We comply with Title VII of Law 18,168, the General Telecommunications Law, thereby avoiding violations due to lack of labeling or incomplete technical information.

◦ Before: Mandatory certification issued by SUBTEL for all short-range devices.
◦ Now (Feb 2026): Mandatory certification only for medical devices. For all other devices (controls, IoT, etc.), a self-verification system applies, along with a Test Report and QR code marking containing information from a Representative in Chile.
